Providing Community & Support for LGBTQ+ Youth & Families

At Diversity Camp Inc. we provide Summer camps and so much more for LGBTQ+ youth and families in the greater southwest Virginia area. We offer our annual Diversity Camp, our bi-monthly LGBTQ+ youth peer-based support group (Youth SAGA), community events, a research project that aims to benefit the mental health of LGBTQ+ youth, and so much more!

Programs

Diversity Camp

Every year we host a fun-filled week-long overnight Summer camp for LGBTQ+ youth and families. Our camp offers exciting activities: swimming, hiking, dancing, art, music, campfires, star-gazing, and games. We also offer community-building and educational workshops that provide campers with tools to improve their mental health. For more information click here.

Youth SAGA

Youth SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Alliance) is our bi-monthly peer-led LGBTQ+ youth support group. Led by professional counselors, this group meets twice a month on weekends. The group is designed for youth to make friends and receive resources for community and better mental health support. For more information click here.

Behavioral Health-Works Project

Diversity Camp is partnering with Virginia Tech and Carilion to host a research project to benefit LGBTQ+ youth mental health. This project will build a greater understanding of the mental health needs of LGBTQ+ youth and help our community provide better mental health services for LGBTQ+ youth in SWVA. This project is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.

Community Events & Programs

Throughout the year Diversity Camp hosts community events and programs to provide space for LGBTQ+ youth and families a space to make friends, build community, and receive resources. These programs include community meals, dances, fundraisers, and events in partnership with other LGBTQ+ organizations.
