The Diversity Camp Adult Weekend Retreat 2026 will be hosted in SWVA (location disclosed after registration).

The weekend will include campfires, crafts, mindfulness practices and meditations, games, nature walks, time for playing music, swimming, and much more!
All attendees must be 18 years old or older.
Registration Fee
The registration cost is $200. It includes lodging, meals, snacks, and activities. Lodging will be in community-style cabins with hot water showers and electricity.

If you are in need of financial assistance in paying the registration cost, there are options below to request to pay a discounted rate due to financial need. Please select the price you are able to pay, any amount you can pay helps us to cover the overall cost. *If you are a past camper or volunteer of Diversity Camp Inc. and you would like to bring a friend, partner, or family member who has not been involved with Diversity Camp before - please reach out to the Diversity Camp Inc. Board of Directors (info@diversitycamp.org) to discuss their attendance before having them complete this form.
Meet The Team
Dr. Susan Mead, PhD
Secretary of Board of Directors, Diversity Camp Inc.
Dr. Susan Virginia Mead, a native of Lexington, Virginia,
earned her B.A. in Sociology and Art from Agnes Scott
College, and her M.S. and Ph.D.in Sociology from Virginia Tech. She is in her 22nd year at Ferrum College where she has taught sociology and been integral to Ferrum’s Holocaust and Appalachian studies programs.
Susan has been involved in LGBTQIA+ advocacy and activism for over 30 years, especially on the campuses of Virginia Tech, Radford University, and Ferrum College, as well as in the Roanoke Valley and Floyd, Virginia. The highlight of her Summer of 2018 was serving for the first time as a volunteer counselor at Diversity Camp at the request of a former Ferrum College student and friend who co-directs the camp. Now she's ALL in!!
Susan’s constant goal is to find a way to connect people
inspiring hope in the newest nation in the world with groups in the U.S. that have a heart for international peace-building. To this end, Susan recently founded Diversity Serves, an 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to “connecting diverse communities through creating sustainable partnerships for cultivating prosperity and peace.”
Joshua Olinger, MPP
Chair of Board of Directors, Diversity Camp Inc.
Joshua Olinger, he/him pronouns, founded and has directed Diversity Camp since it began in 2014, when it was a Roanoke Diversity Center event. He has a Bachelor's degree in Human Services from Old Dominion University and a Master's Degree in Public Policy from George Mason University.
He has ten years of experience volunteering and working for LGBTQ+ organizations and ten years of experience working and volunteering for Summer camp programs. He currently works as the special events and production manager for a non-profit in Washington D.C. Diversity Camp is a true passion of his.
He also practices mindful meditation daily and is a Level 1 Qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Teacher, trained through Brown University.
He enjoys bringing communities together, organizing events and programs, being outdoors, civil rights advocacy, music, and mindfulness. All of which he brings to the Diversity Camp atmosphere.
Brandon McGhee

Brandon McGhee, LCSW, he/ him pronouns, is a resident of Roanoke, VA where he lives with his husband and dogs. He received his Bachelors in Social Work (BSW) in 2007 from Ferrum College and received his Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from University of
New England in 2018. He is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). His work background is with the
Department of Social Services in Foster Care, Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, and Prevention as well as counseling for youth and
families. He currently works as a counselor.
